1.2.1 - Stage 0 (New to CAD)

Objective: Create your Onshape Education account, set up your workspace, and install the required FRC parts libraries.

Complete these modules and get mentor sign-off before you start:

• 1.1.3 — Game Analysis
• 1.1.4 — Engineering Design Process
• 1.1.5 — Build Season
• 1.1.6 — Power On

If you have not completed the modules above, you may have difficulty in in FRCDesign space with identifying robot parts, so try to finish those first.

Welcome to the CAD pathway. Team 2064 uses Onshape, a cloud-based CAD platform, so you can design in the browser.

For this first step, follow the FRCDesign.org setup, then come back here to submit your progress.

Step 1: Complete the setup guide

Keep this tab open. Open the FRCDesign setup guide and complete only the steps in the Course Setup section.

When you sign up for Onshape, choose the free Education account and use your Region 15 email address.

Step 2: Return checklist

Confirm the external guide is finished before you start sketching.

• Created a free Onshape Education account
• Logged in successfully
• Set default units to inches and pounds
• Subscribed to the FRC Design app in the Onshape App Store
• Added the standard FeatureScripts to your toolbar

Step 3: Open your workbench

Use the 2064 Onshape Classroom so your document sits in the team folder and mentors can review it.

1. Open the Stage 0 portal.
2. Launch or generate your working document. Use that same document to verify setup and load FeatureScripts.
3. A mentor will check your interface settings from the classroom link.
