1.2.1 - Stage 0 (New to CAD)

Objective: Create your Onshape Education account, set up your workspace, and install the required FRC parts libraries.

Welcome to the CAD Pathway! Team 2064 uses Onshape, a cloud-based CAD platform that lets you design robots right in your web browser.

For this very first step, we partner with the incredible curriculum over at FRCDesign.org. You are going to hop over to their site to complete your initial account setup, and then come right back here to submit your progress.

🚦 Step 1: Complete the Setup Guide

Please keep this tab open! Click the button below to open the FRCDesign setup guide in a new window. Read through their page carefully and complete all the steps they list in the “Course Setup” Section Only.

✅ Step 2: The Return Checklist

Welcome back! Before you move on to learning how to actually sketch and design parts, verify that you successfully completed everything in the external guide.

Did you complete the following?

  • Created your free Onshape Education Account.
  • Logged into Onshape successfully.
  • Set your default units to Inches and Pounds (Crucial for FRC!).
  • Subscribed to the FRC Design App in the Onshape App Store.
  • Added the standard FeatureScripts to your toolbar.

📸 Step 3: Access Your Workbench

To begin your work, you must access the official workspace in the 2064 Onshape Classroom. This ensures your documents are organized in the team folder and that mentors can see your progress in real-time.

  1. Enter the Classroom: Click the button below to open the Stage 0 portal.
  2. Launch Your Workspace: Use the portal to open or generate your specific working document. You will use this exact document to verify your account setup and load your FeatureScripts.
  3. Mentor Review: Once your workspace is live, a mentor will check your interface settings directly through the classroom link.
