Phase 1: Rookie Foundations

Mandatory for incoming members of the Panther Project, FRC Team 2064.

Phase 1 is the shared floor: what FIRST is, how a robot is put together, shop clearance, basic CAD, an XRP robot, and hand tools. You do not need to finish CAD before you start safety. You do need safety clearance before you use a shop tool. The XRP is not a shop tool.

Danger

Start safety while you are in 1.1 and 1.2. Do not wait until CAD is done. Module 1.3 has to be passed before fabrication tools and before 1.4. It is not required for the XRP.

1.1: FRC Basics Self-paced. Culture, robot parts, the game, the design loop, and what January looks like.

1.3: Safety Start this with 1.1. Shop rules, the quiz, and the practical. This is the gate for tools.

CAD and the XRP

No shop clearance required. Finish CAD by January 1 if you want to help build.

1.2: Basic CAD Onshape, in order. Do not skip a stage.

1.5: The XRP Bot With CAD, not after safety. Assemble, wire, and program a mini-robot.

After safety is signed off

1.4: Fabrication Locked until 1.3 is passed. Hand tools, fasteners, crimping, and soldering.
